The Fruit and Juice Party is an annual event aimed at educating the children about nutrition, promotion of biodiversity conservation, food education, and networking. This event takes place in various schools across Uganda that are part of the Slow Food Gardens, engaging students, teachers, and Slow Food members in a series of interactive activities centered around indigenous, local, and traditional fruits. The primary goal of the Fruit and Juice Party is to raise awareness about the nutritional benefits of fresh fruit juices compared to processed alternatives. Many school-going children are often unaware of these benefits, and the event serves as an educational platform to enlighten them. The event has activities such as Tasting Sessions where children have the opportunity to taste a variety of fresh fruit juices, encouraging them to appreciate the flavors and health benefits of local fruits; Educational Workshops and debates where the focus is on the importance of fruit production and consumption, teaching participants about sustainable agricultural practices; Networking Opportunities where the event fosters connections among students, teachers, and local farmers, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
