About the Slow Food Uganda Events

Slow Food Uganda organizes impactful events with the aim of raising awareness about the preservation of food cultures and traditions, promoting food sovereignty, and advocating for climate justice. These events serve as platforms to engage communities, schools, leaders, food entrepreneurs, youth and women groups in discussions on the promotion of good, clean, and fair food.

To create awareness on the preservation food cultures and traditions, the events are organized to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Ugandan cultural and biological diversity. They emphasize the value of preserving local food traditions as a means of safeguarding biodiversity, promoting cultural diversity.

Through empowering communities to have control over their food systems, these events raise awareness for the right of individuals to make decisions about their own food production, distribution, and consumption.

They promote sustainable farming practices, support small-scale farmers, and encourage the use of agroecological practices. Through knowledge-sharing sessions and practical demonstrations, Slow Food Uganda events empower individuals and communities to take charge of their food choices and contribute to a more equitable and sustainable food system.

The events are also key in highlight the interconnectedness between food systems and climate change, emphasizing the need for sustainable agricultural practices that mitigate environmental impact.
