Who we are
About Us
Slow Food Uganda is part of the global Slow Food movement that believes everyone has the right to good, clean, and fair food. Slow Food Uganda is legally registered in Uganda as a Not for profit public company limited by Guarantee.
Slow Food in Uganda started its activities in 2006 after the second edition of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto. The movement has continued to grow with its main activities focusing on the defense of food biodiversity, accelerating sustainable agriculture and food education as well influencing public and private sector policies and programs towards a good, clean and fair food system. Additionally, the organization promotes traditional food and helps farmers rediscover agroecological practices and promote their cultural food traditions with pride and dignity.
The growth of a strong Slow Food network in Uganda necessitated the formal registration of Slow Food Uganda as Civil Society Organization registered in 2015 to consolidate the Slow Food and the Agroecology Network in Uganda.
